This is similar to the information listed at Onward transmission of Sick Leave Applications but may be separated into two categories.  Firstly, if a medical certificate issued to a Trinidad and Tobago national is submitted to his/her employer without the credentials of the medical practitioner having been verified, the medical certificate is then forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have the credentials of the medical practitioner verified. 

Or secondly, if a Trinidad and Tobago national travels abroad for medical treatment, he/she may have the medical practitioner complete a National Insurance Benefit form on his behalf.  As stated previously, if the credentials of the medical practitioner have not been verified, the form is then forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for verification.  The information is then forwarded to the relevant Trinidad and Tobago Overseas Mission which then contacts the Medical Board of that State/Country to check the bona-fides of the medical practitioner’s registration.  This information is then transmitted to the national.
