COMMENTS ON DRAFT NATIONAL DIASPORA POLICY

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs is in the process of finalising the development of a National Diaspora Policy. This is in keeping with the Government’s intention to engage the Trinidad and Tobago Diaspora and the wider Caribbean Diaspora in a more systematic, strategic and structured manner. This initiative, as articulated in the Government’s Official Policy Framework and the National Development Strategy (Vision 2030) acknowledges the potentially significant contributions that the Trinidad and Tobago and wider Caribbean Diaspora can make to economic diversification, economic growth and social development. Accordingly, the Ministry invites comments from all members of the public and stakeholders on the draft document.

Through this project and the development and implementation of a Diaspora Policy, the Ministry hopes to realise significant rewards for the country across several key spheres. ICTs, Trade, Tourism, Maritime, Sustainable Development, Health and Education are among the key areas prioritised for policy development.

All comments may be sent no later than January 10, 2022 via email to diasporafeedback@foreign.gov.tt. Please visit the Ministry’s website at www.foreign.gov.tt for further details.
